Can I start Physie part way through the year?
Yes! You can start physie at anytime in the year. The routines are taught from the beginning of the year with lots of revision throughout the year. There is also an instructional video available that can assist with practice at home. All competitions are optional so if you start later in the year there is no pressure to compete you can just have fun in class.
What types of competitions are there and do I have to compete?
There are two types of BJP Physie competitions. The first is team-based with 8 girls in one team performing routines together and the second is called Champion Girl, where girls pursue their individual goals. There are various competitions throughout the year, with club, interclub, regional, state and finally national competitions. Every year, the National Championships are held at the Sydney Opera House where girls from all over Australia compete for the title of Senior Grand Champion. Competitions are completely optional, though they are a great way to build confidence and meet other Physie girls from all over Australia! It’s a wonderful experience designed to encourage girls to become comfortable performing in a safe, positive environment.
Are there expensive costumes to buy?
If you or your child wishes to participate in competition you will need to buy a BJP leotard or performance wear for the day. You can purchase them new from the Physie Shop or you can buy a second hand one from the club or the BJP Swaps and Sales Facebook page. No shoes are required for Physie.
