What do I wear?

Any leotard or bike pants with a fitted top. No footwear is needed. We have a club sleeveless top, team shirt, and tracktop (all optional).

Epping physie asks that students conform to a dress code. This is in the interests of safety and so teachers can best assess the student’s movements and prevent injury. Children and ladies are required to wear a leotard or bike pants and fitted top to practice. Epping Club shirts are available for purchase from the club. At competitions a BJP leotard is required. Please ensure that long hair is secured off the face in a ponytail.

The Typical Physie Year

FEBRUARY – JULY

During this time we focus on learning and perfecting the new syllabus for each specific age group.

JULY – AUGUST

Interclubs (1 or 2 per year)

Interclubs are competitions between clubs outside our usual competition area as a friendly preparation for champion girl and teams. Interclubs are a good opportunity to check your progress and be aware of leotard, hair and make-up requirements. These competitions aren’t compulsory, but are a great way to practice the year’s syllabus in a fun and friendly atmosphere. All Interclub competitors must wear a BJP leotard.

SEPTEMBER

Champion Girl Heats (ages 5-14)

Champion Girl Heats are open to all club members. There are various zones within NSW, Queensland and Victoria. Epping club is part of the Pennant Hills zone for the 5 – 14 years age group. The Junior competitions are usually held at Roselea Community Centre at Carlingford. The girls compete in their specific age group. Five place-getters are then chosen from each age group to compete at the Junior National Finals at Homebush in November.

OCTOBER

Repechage

Juniors 6 – 14 Years who have reached the Zone Final, but are not place-getters compete for a second chance to reach the National Finals at Homebush. Five place-getters proceed to the National Finals. This event is usually held at the Whitlam Leisure Centre at Liverpool.

Ladies

The Ladies champion lady competitions are held in October. Five place getters from each age group are then chosen to compete at the National Ladies Final at Homebush in November. The Ladies 40′s, 50′s and 60’s events are also held at this time – both team and champion lady competitions.

NOVEMBER

Teams

A team consists of eight girls who are judged on their ability to perform the syllabus in perfect timing and standard of work. Members need to work together in a friendly and committed manner. This competition is held in combined age-groups: 5/6 Years; 7/8 Years; 9/10 Years; 11/12 Years; etc. Black leotards are worn so that all members look alike. This is usually held at The State Sports Centre, Homebush. It is often a highlight of each girl’s physie year as it fosters a team spirit.

Club Competitions

This is an event to showcase and reward the talents at all levels of individual achievement within our club. All girls and ladies are strongly encouraged to compete.

Junior Nationals, Ladies Nationals, Senior  Champion Girl Heats, Ladies and Seniors Teams

These competitions are held over numerous weekends in November at Homebush State Sports Centre.

Open Senior Nationals

Held at The Opera House – this is the pinnacle of the physie year as the Senior girls chosen from Homebush compete for age group champion and the overall Grand Champion.
